Michael Frary (American, 1918-2005) Untitled (Head of a Man) Watercolor on paper 23-1/2 x 17-5/8 inches (59.7 x 44.8 cm) (sight) Signed lower right: Frary Property from the collection of John L. Nau, III, Houston Michael Frary attended college at University of Southern California, where he graduated with a degree in architecture and a Master of Fine Arts degree. In 1949, Frary moved to San Antonio to serve as the artist-in-residence and faculty chairman at the Marion Koogler McNay Museum. In 1955, he accepted a faculty position at the University of Texas in Austin. In 1970, he was awarded full professorship, and in 1986, the artist was named Professor Emeritus of Art.
