Born in Dayton, Oregon, in 1945, Richard C. Thompson forged a remarkable career exploring the American landscape through his paintings. Educated at the University of New Mexico, he gained national recognition with invitations to the Whitney Biennial in 1975 and 1981. Thompson taught at the University of Texas, Austin. His work is held in major public and private collections, including the Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth and the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston.
