Détails du Lot
Barbara Klemm (German, b. 1939) Budapest, Hungary, 1994 Gelatin silver print, printed 2010 11-1/4 x 15-1/8 inches (28.6 x 38.4 cm) (image) 12 x 16 inches (sheet) Signed, titled, and dated in pencil, and with photographer's stamp, verso. PROVENANCE: The artist; Abe Frajndlich, acquired from the above, circa 2010. Barbara Klemm and I have been colleagues and dear friends from our meeting through the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung, where she worked for the newspaper for forty five years (1959-2004). We probably met sometime in the late eighties and have been strong admirers of each other's work. Whenever I am in Frankfurt, which is usually at least a couple of times a year, we never miss sharing a large European breakfast at her home with her husband, Leo. Almost from the beginning we have been exchanging photographs with each other and giving each other whatever new publication has just come out on our work. This particular photograph done in Budapest of passengers on an open tram, has strong echoes of the Robert Frank photo of the side of a bus in New Orleans from his book, The Americans. HID12401132022 © 2024 Heritage Auctions | All Rights Reserved www.HA.com/TexasAuctioneerLicenseNotice
The artist; Abe Frajndlich, acquired from the above.
Overall very good condition. Undulations to the side edges of the sheet, slightly extending into the image. SHeet is loose, not framed.
