Drypoint. Signed and titled “Selbst mit Hut” (Self-portrait with hat) by a hand other than that of the artist. From an edition of 50 copies. On laid paper (with the watermark "BSB"). 32 x 24.7 cm. Sheet: 52,8 x 42 cm.
Published by I.B. Neumann, Berlin. [MH].
- This self-portrait is considered the most important work in Beckmann's graphic oeuvre. - Its significance is emphasized by the four different versions. - The recurring motifs of the cat and the lamp reference Beckmann's inscrutable nature. - Another copy of this etching is in the collection of the Museum of Modern Art, New York.

Good overall impression, fresh print impression. Slightly unevenly browned. With tiny isolated brown spots. With a professionally restored tear (approx. 3 cm) in the upper right corner, and with a small backed tear (approx. 5 mm). Lower right corner with a small surface blemish. Another tiny tear (approx. 5 mm) in the left edge.
