- As one of the most versatile and most experimental artists of his time, his work defies all genre norms. - He is regarded as one of the most important trendsetters of the 1970s and 80s. - Buthe exhibited at a total of four documenta exhibitions between 1972 and 1992. - From 1983, Buthe taught at the Düsseldorf Art Academy alongside luminaries such as Joseph Beuys.
