"The model was a habitué Of New York's Hellfire Club where, upon entering, one checked in one's clothes. Here, she stands for exhausted, give-away love. For Witkin, Miró was the purist of artists and, here as the fetus, he is a messenger of real sensuality, whose purity disables him where warriors reign. Witkin likes the fact that Miró and Hemingway used to box together." (E. Parry, op.cit.) HID12401132022 © 2024 Heritage Auctions | All Rights Reserved www.HA.com/TexasAuctioneerLicenseNotice
