Henri Gadbois was a Houston-born artist known for his evocative Texas landscapes and his contributions to the arts in Texas. A graduate of the University of Houston, where he studied under Texas art luminaries like Robert Preusser, Gadbois developed a deep connection to the Texas landscape that would define his career. Alongside his painting, he explored folk art traditions through rug hooking, quilting, and ceramics, eventually founding Faux Foods, a company creating lifelike ceramic food for museum displays. Gadbois’s work can be found in public collections such as the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston. Together with his wife, artist Leila McConnell, Gadbois found inspiration in the Texas Hill Country, which enriched his lifelong artistic exploration of his home state.
