Détails du Lot
Totoya Hokkei (Japanese, 1780-1850) Pheasant, from the series Thirty-six Birds and Animals (Sanjūrokkin tsuzuki), circa 1828 Surimono woodblock print with gold mica 8-1/2 x 7-1/4 inches (21.6 x 18.4 cm) (sheet, shikishiban) Signed: Hokkei Produced for the Shippōren Kyōka Club with their emblem in red ink With a poem by Fukuraku-en Sokon. Property from the Nelkin Collection HID12401132022 © 2024 Heritage Auctions | All Rights Reserved
Print presents well. The condition of the work is consistent with its age. Mild toning to the sheet, with the black ink in the pheasant appearing slightly faded. A few minor marks/accretions throughout the uninked areas of the sheet, do not appear to majorly impact image. Two small repairs to the sheet below the pheasant's foot, primarily evident under blacklight inspection. Unframed. No tears or unrepaired losses observed.
