Détails du Lot
Hilary Berseth (b. 1979) Programmed Hive #6, 2008 Mixed media sculpture 47 x 22-1/2 x 22-1/2 inches (119.4 x 57.2 x 57.2 cm) (overall) Property from a Private Collection, Austin, Texas Berseth combines nature and human craft to create organic yet architectural forms. The Programmed Hive series presents a collaboration with honeybees, resulting in a unique set of sculptural beehives. The underlying framework of the hive, designed by Berseth, is comprised of polystyrene foam and plywood, which was then built up into the organic hive structure by the bees. The final work seen here is a testament to the creative potential of nature. HID12401132022 © 2024 Heritage Auctions | All Rights Reserved www.HA.com/TexasAuctioneerLicenseNotice
Presents very well. Mild dirt and dust accumulation in the recesses. Otherwise, there appear to be no major condition issues affecting the work. The hive was organically built up from the plywood base, which rests on a white wooden plinth. An acrylic case encloses the hive. The dimensions listed above are overall measurements which include the wooden plinth and the acrylic cover. The work is also accompanied by a wood-cased sifter, which measures 3-1/4 x 25 x 22-1/2 inches.
