Fritz Willis (American, 1907-1979) Seated Brunette, circa 1970 Oil on canvas laid on board 23 x 18 inches (58.4 x 45.7 cm) Signed lower left Property from the Louis and Susan Meisel Collection After making his name at Esquire magazine in the 1950s, Fritz Willis went on to be one of the most celebrated later day pin-up artists at Brown & Bigelow, working for the company for over 15 years creating his unique brand of sophisticated and risqué pin up images such as this. A powerful technician, Willis also created a series of artists instruction books—many of which centered on figure drawing.
