- From 1925 onwards, Karl Hofer traveled regularly to Ticino, where he owned a house on Lake Lugano for a while. - Hofer's Ticino landscapes occupy an important renk in his work as they are an expression of his search for peace and balance in the difficult 1930s/40s. - One of the few Ticino landscapes in which Hofer focuses his artistic gaze on nature that transcends civilization and the impressive mountain panorama. - Other Ticino landscapes are at the Museum Ludwig in Cologne, the State Art Collection in Karlsruhe, the Kunsthalle Mannheim and the Art Museum in Winterthur.
