Painted in a typical ukiyo e style, it depicts a boat full of characters, various Edo period travelers, sarumawashi, samurai, yamabushi, merchants, a foreigner with a large hat, monk, biwa player and even two samurai trying to board a horse. It is surrounded by a blue silk brocade embroidered with gold thread in a sayagata motif composed of greciques linked to swastikas and mon composed of two tsuru facing each other. Signed on the left Fujiwara Shinkōō (Nobuka) sho - 藤原信香書. With a protective kiri box inscribed in black ink: 渡船之図 信香翁 英一蝶筆 - To-sen no zu Shinkōō (Nobuka) vieillard Hanabusa Itchô hitsu - "Illustration of a ferry boat painted by Shinkōō (Nobuka) le vieillard, Hanabusa Itchō"
