• A tribute to female beauty in Putz’s characteristic, atmospheric style.
• A classic nude from the rear reinterpreted: with his female nudes, he created coloristic masterpieces.
• The painter dedicates a surprisingly rich part of his oeuvre to the charming subject of bathing women.
• Part of the same private collection for more than 40 years.
LITERATURE: Helmut Putz, Leo Putz. Werksverzeichnis in zwei Bänden, vol. II, Gauting 1994, CR no. 543 (illustrated in black and white on p. 671, here with a slightly different description of the dedication on the reverse).
Eduard Beyrer, Munich (1915, gifted by the artist; handwritten dedication on the reverse). Galerie Gunzenhauser, Munich. Private collection, Hesse (acquired from the above in 1982)
In good condition. Overall, there is some craquelure and isolated spots of paint loss, which do not impair the overall appearance. With small holes and canvas blemishes around the edges, as well as minimal abrasion of the canvas along the lower left edge. Overall, there are retouches that harmoniously blend into the painted surface. The condition report was compiled in daylight with the aid of a UV light source, and to the best of our knowledge and belief.
