• Masterful plein air painting: a wonderfully light and luminous scene.
• A compelling symbiosis of intimacy and contemplative thought.
• In 1928, Leo Putz incorporated this motif into his large-format painting “Badende,” a multi-figure bathing scene at a forest lake.
• Part of the same private collection for over 40 years.
LITERATURE: Helmut Putz, Leo Putz. Werkverzeichnis in zwei Bänden, vol. II, Gauting 1994, CR no. 974 (illustrated in black and white on p. 721).
Private collection, Hesse (since 1981)
In good condition. Impato areas with isolated areas of craquelure, as well as very few tiny brown spots on the paint surface. In the upper left corner of the painting, the canvas is slightly worn and shows minor loss of paint. The lower left corner of the painting shows paint abrasion. There is minor abrasion in the right-hand margins, as well as a slightly larger, light abrasion mark in the upper right of the composition. A very minor retouch to one of the figure's feet. The condition report was compiled in daylight with the aid of a UV light source, and to the best of our knowledge and belief.
