Relief , Duralumin. Verso with the engraved signature and number. Copy 4 of 5. Diameter: 30 cm. . [KA].
• Abstract relief in Hans Arp’s characteristic biomorphic style.
• Offered on the international auction market for the first time.
• Excellent provenance: received as a gift directly from the artist and in the same family for over 50 years.
• As early as 1936, Arp’s reliefs were exhibited at the Museum of Modern Art, New York; a retrospective of the artist followed there in 1958, and finally another at the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum, New York, in 1969.
We are grateful to the Hans Arp and Sophie Taeuber-Arp Foundation, Berlin/Rolandswerth, for the kind assistance.
