Détails du Lot
Acrylic on canvas. Signed on the reverse of the stretcher. 150 x 150 cm. . [AW].
- In the present work, Geiger elevates the circle to a meditative color space. - In keeping with Geiger's understanding of art, the weightless circle intensifies to become a source of energy. - By applying the paint with an airbrush, the pigments appear to shimmer and vibrate. - Rupprecht Geiger's paintings can be found in numerous important collections, including the National Gallery in Berlin, the Museum Folkwang in Essen, and the Lenbachhaus in Munich.
Accompanied by a certificate of authenticity isssued by the Geiger Archive, Munich, on April 24, 2025.
LITERATURE: Rupprecht Geiger Gesellschaft, Städtische Galerie im Lenbachhaus, Munich (ed.), edited by Pia Dornacher and Julia Geiger, Rupprecht Geiger. Catalogue raisonné 1942-2002. Gemälde und Objekte, architekturbezogene Kunst, Munich 2003, cat. no. 544.
Galerie Müller, Stuttgart. Dr. Rolf H. Krauss Collection, Stuttgart. Private collection, Baden-Württemberg
In good condition. The outer corners and parts of the outer edges are slightly rubbed. Small, barely visible paint losses along the lower left corner. Craquelure in places, mainly in the orange areas, some of which have been expertly retouched. In the lower area of the circle with very faint, streak-like soiling. The work captivates with its bright colors. The condition report was compiled in daylight with a UV light source and to the best of our knowledge and belief.
