The rectangular top with brocatello di Casale border, enclosing tablets in a grid pattern divided by Belgian black marble borders, the 190 specimens including lapis lazuli, porphyries; porfido verde antico, porfido nero, serpentine, carrara, semesanto, renaria, rosso antico, diaspera di Sicilia, verde antico, alabastro fiorito, bianco e nero antico and tigrato, alabastro bianco, breccia africano, portor, onyx, verde di Tarchino, brocatello di Spagna, cipollino, various alabasters, granites, bigio, breccia and lumachella marbles among many others, centred by a rectangular 18th century Roman micromosaic plaque depicting a bird on a branch, with rosso antico, breccia, and green marble borders, on a Biedermeier mahogany base with a moulded plain frieze on five cylindrical supports, on a rectangular with concave bowed front, the underside stencilled with inventory number No.866K, repairs and restorations to the marble
