- In the combination of the curved female body, the ornamental surroundings, and his painterly style, Purrmann creates a sensual composition. - Influenced by Cézanne and Modigliani, this nude was created during Purrmann's long stay in Florence, where he had been managing the German Artists' Foundation Villa Romana since 1935. - Female nudes by the artist from the 1930s and 40s can also be found in the collections of the Pfalzgalerie Kaiserslautern, the Saarland Museum, the Saarland Cultural Heritage Foundation in Saarbrücken, and the Sprengel Museum in Hanover.
