Leola Freeman (American, 1900-1989) Floral Still-Life, circa 1945 Oil on canvas 25 x 30 inches (63.5 x 76.2 cm) Signed lower right: Leola Freeman PROVENANCE: The artist; William and Kathren Roche, El Paso, acquired from the above; Kate Albright, by descent from the above. Born in Gonzalez, Texas, Leola Freeman was reared in El Paso and attended Georgetown Convent, Washington D.C. She later studied at the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts, Philadelphia, under Daniel Garber, Joseph Thurmond Pearson, Jr. Henry Bainbridge McCarter, and George Brant Bridgman. For many years after moving to El Paso, Texas she maintained a studio and exhibited her works in the Paso del Norte Hotel.
