Mehrfigurige Szenen vor unbestimmtem Grund in der für den Künstler typischen Chiaroscuro-Technik mit einem klaren Bezug auf Rembrandt, dessen Kostümierung für die Darstellung sicherlich Pate stand.

Christian Dietricy wurde vom Sächsischen König August dem Starken gefördert, von Winckelmann hoch gelobt und von August III zum Hofmaler ernannt, nachdem er bereits die Niederlande bereist hatte. Er setzte sich mit sämtlichen Malrichtungen seiner Zeit auseinander, fand letztlich jedoch in Rembrandt van Rijn (1606–1669) ein eigentliches Vorbild.
