Reveau Bassett (American, 1897-1981) Ducks on a Pond Oil on paper laid on Masonite 16 x 20 inches (40.6 x 50.8 cm) Signed lower left: Reveau Bassett Signed and inscribed on the reverse: Reveau Bassett / Dallas Texas PROVENANCE: C.A. Tatum, Jr., Dallas, circa 1978; By descent to the present owner, 2006. Dallas native, Reveau Mott Bassett trained at the Arts Student League of New York under Joseph Pennell, William Leigh, and Boardman Robinson. He was also greatly influenced by studying, and later working, with Frank Reaugh. Bassett is particularly well-known for his popular wild-life paintings and Texas landscapes. Thin 1 inch tear along the lower edge, extending between the R and the O in the signature. Under UV exam, a few scattered spots of retouching in the background pond area. Minor surface soiling, visible along the upper edge. Framed Dimensions 24 X 28 Inches
